   Great sous - vide Cooker
This device enables you cook great steaks to the temperature and tenderness I love. I haven't testested pork yet but I have cooked very tender chicken breasts. I would recommend this based on very good price and quality. __ ( Anonymous)

Easy to set up and use. Precision temperature and time control.
This sous vide cooker is easy to use. I was able to intuit how to set it up without the instructions--although I did end up reading the easy-to-follow instruction book before using it the first time. The unit heated the water quickly and held it at the set temperature. I am hopeful that this will last longer than my previous two sous vide cookers. __ (George)

   Functions well
Plan to use it today for a couple small filets, but wanted to familiarize myself with its functions and operation. At first, I thought the instructions were bare, minimum and simplistic. Then I realized the operation of this machine is just that...simplistic. I set up the SV on a stock pot 2/3rds filled with water, plugged it in, set the temperature, set the timer, then hit start. The machine is very quiet, has great flow without pushing the water over the edge and heated quickly to 125*. The dial is easy to use when adjusting time/temp, and the buttons illuminate. A couple times I had to hit the buttons twice before they changed the setting, but may have been user error. I'm looking forward to my first cook later today. __ (Eric)
   A Sous Vide experiment
Been looking at sous vide cooking method for a few months and figured at the price for the MegaChef if didn't work I could afford to toss it. But, it's great so far. Only use it twice but got perfect results both times. First test was a frozen boneless chicken thigh. I seasoned up a fresh boneless chicken thigh, vacuum sealed it with my 15 year old FoodSaver and threw it in the freezer for a couple of days. I filled a stockpot with hot water from the kitchen sink, hung the MegaChef on the pot and let the adventure begin. If the results weren't so good, I would probably deduct 1 or 2 stars for the crap instructions on how the 3 buttons work. It took me about 15 minutes before I finally figures out you just need to quickly touch a button to activate it. For my frozen chicken I set the temperature to 165.5 for 4 hours. Using my high-end digital meat thermometer I found the water temp was 125 when I finally got the buttons figured out. It took about 15 minutes to reach 165.5 and the unit started circulating the water and tracking cooking time. I check the temp readout on the unit frequently and it stayed on 165.5. I checked the water temp with my digital thermometer several time and the temp ran between 165.4 and 165.7. After 4 hours, I pulled my chicken thigh out and seared it all around for a minute or two on each side. The meat was juicy, tender and tasted good. Tonight I sous vided a fresh boneless ribeye steak. This time knowing how the buttons worked, set up was quick and easy. Again the temp or 145 did not vary and my digital thermometer was constant at 145.5. And the steak was delicious. I noticed the more expensive units almost all have wifi or Bluetooth and a phone app. I don't see the need. I noticed several reviews complained about the unit being noisy. Mine is very quite. From 8 or 10 feet away I am not hearing it. If you want to try sous vide or need to replace a unit, I would highly recommend the MegaChef. The price is right and it works. by dony __ (don youngsy)
